The pressure of teenage life can be extremely overwhelming, causing some of our precious youth to take their young life!

During my morning news catch up, I read that a local 15 year old, Ben Curry, who attended San Ramon Valley High school in Danville CA, was found dead at the bottom of the school’s pool on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 8th 2018. Curry was on the basketball team, and his teammates left their shoes at the gate of the pool in tribute.

As a parent of a 15 year old son, I cannot even fathom the grief that Curry’s parents are going through right now.

Teenage years are supposed to be the most fun, exciting, challenging, and dramatic time of our life. These years are life changing and they help shape our future. Drastic changes occur emotionally and physically during this phase of our life, which creates pressures such as:

  • peer pressure

  • parents pressure

  • popularity pressure

  • weight pressure

  • skin pressure

  • future pressure

I do not know what was going on in Curry’s life, but I do know that he is gone too soon! I seriously hope that no one bullied him. If you or anyone that you know is in need of help to get through life during these crucial and impactful teenage years, please confide in an adult that you trust, and or call help lines such as:
